What’s in homemade peanut butter fudge?
This recipe uses just a few basic ingredients:
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips: This is the secret to getting fudge that tastes like the inside of peanut butter cups. You can sub this for white chocolate chips if you can’t find the peanut butter ones.
- Creamy Peanut Butter: Do NOT use crunchy peanut butter or natural peanut butter for this recipe. You want plain old creamy peanut butter in order to get the right consistency.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: You can use a fat-free version or the regular version of sweetened condensed milk for this recipe.
Making 3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge
Step 1 | Mix
In a large bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk with the peanut butter. Mix it until it’s well combined and set it aside.
Step 2 | Melt
In a microwave-safe bowl, pour your peanut butter chips. Microwave them in 30 second bursts, stirring with a wooden spoon in between, until they are completely melted. Be careful and don’t overheat — the chips will burn.
Step 3 | Combine
Pour your milk and peanut butter mixture into the melted chips. Stir until everything is combined. The mixture will start to thicken up.
Step 4 | Pour and Set
Prepare a 9×9 square pan by lining it with parchment paper or wax paper. Pour your fudge mixture into the pan. Smooth the fudge out and press it into the corners. I use my clean hands to press the fudge into shape.
Then, cover the fudge with plastic wrap and let it set. On the counter, it will take a couple of hours. In the fridge, it takes about 1 hour.
Step 5 | Enjoy!
When your fudge is set, you can lift it out of the pan and use a sharp knife to cut it into 1-inch pieces. I sprinkle mine with crushed peanuts, but you could also garnish the top of the fudge with mini chocolate chips, chopped Reese’s cups or Reese’s pieces, or even a pinch of flaky salt!
Variations
This easy recipe is pretty versatile. Here are some ways you can play around with the base to create your own personalized fudge recipe!
- Change the Chips: If you can melt it, it will work! This recipe would be delicious using dark chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips to create a chocolate peanut butter fudge!
- Change the Butter: You can play around with using sunflower seed butter or almond butter.
- Play with add-ins: Mix in nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, and other mix-ins to add texture and taste! This recipe tastes great with a teaspoon of vanilla extract mixed in as well.

FAQs
Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It should keep well for up to two weeks. You can also keep it in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days.
I don’t recommend chunky peanut butter — it messes with the set. If you want peanut bits in your fudge, it works better to just mix in some chopped peanuts.
Yes, you can make the fudge a few days in advance. Just store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.
