What’s in cheesy bacon dip?

You only need 5 ingredients for this easy dip recipe!

Bacon dip ingredients
  • Cream Cheese: You’ll need one block of cream cheese for this recipe. Make sure it’s softened before you start — that’s the secret to the smooth, creamy texture.
  • Sour Cream: Feel free to use full-fat, lite, or even non-dairy sour cream for this recipe.
  • Bacon Bits: I used real bacon bits in this dip. You can also use bacon, cooked nice and crispy and then crumbled.
  • Cheddar Cheese: I like to buy my cheese pre-shredded, but you can also grate your own.
  • Green Onions: This is used in the dip and as a garnish. If you don’t like onion, just leave this ingredient out.

Step 1 | Prep

Before you begin, make sure that your cream cheese is softened. If you’ve forgotten to soften it on the counter, you can use one of these methods to get it ready quickly.

You will also need to chop your green onion and grate the cheddar cheese.

Step 2 | Mix

Once everything is prepped, you can combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix them with a wooden spoon until they’re well combined.

Step 3 | Enjoy!

You can serve this immediately, or put it in the fridge and chill it for an hour. I love to garnish it with a little green onion and bacon bits on top of the dip. This dip works great with a ton of different dippers, including potato chips, pita chips, tortilla chips, fresh vegetables like celery sticks, or even baguette slices!

It’s also super fun served in a bread bowl!

  • Jalapeño Popper Dip: Add chopped jalapeños to the dip and omit the green onion. This one works great as a hot dip — just bake your dip in a shallow dish for 25-30 minutes.
  • Bacon Ranch Dip: Add a packet of ranch seasoning mix for the perfect dip!
  • Buffalo Bacon Cheddar Dip: Add 2 tablespoons of buffalo sauce to complement those bacon flavors.
