What’s in 5-ingredient creamy cheese tortellini?

These few simple ingredients pack a in so much flavour!

Tortellini recipe
  • Frozen Tortellini: I use the 19 oz bag of cheese-filled tortellini from Great Value. You can also use refrigerated cheese tortellini,  fresh store-bought tortellini, or even make your own fresh tortellini!
  • Cream Cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is softened before you start cooking. This helps the sauce to be smooth and creamy rather than lumpy.
  • Tomato Sauce: You’ll need 14 oz of tomato sauce. I use canned sauce, but feel free to use fresh!
  • Garlic: You’ll need 2 cloves of garlic. You can use fresh or jarred garlic, or even sub with garlic powder!
  • Italian Seasoning: You can use your favorite herb/spice blend. I like Italian seasoning!

FAQs

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

This dish is best served fresh, since tortellini continues to absorb the sauce as it sits. If you do make it ahead, add a splash of water or milk when reheating to loosen the sauce.

How do I store leftovers?

Store leftover creamy tomato garlic tortellini in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, stirring occasionally until heated through.

Can I add protein?

Definitely! Cooked shredded chicken, Italian sausage, grilled chicken, or even cooked ground beef are all great additions if you’d like to make the meal more filling.
